NEHU Distance Education Admission: North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) offers BA, BCom, MA, and MCom. NEHU Distance Education Admission updates

• BA (Bachelor of Arts): Eligible candidates must have completed 10+2 with at least 45% aggregate marks. Subjects available include Political Science, Sociology, and History. The approximate annual fee is INR 6,000. Admission last date: October 26, 2024.

NEHU Distance Education Admission 2024

In 1973, the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) was set up by the government. The University of Shillong is located in the state of Meghalaya. Two campuses of NEHU are in Shillong and Tura, and one is in Mawkynroh, Umshing, and the other is in Chandmari in Tura. 4 stars and an “A” from the NAAC make it a top-notch university. On NEHU’s eight campuses, there are 44 academic departments and 2 study centers offering undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degrees in regular learning mode.

Note: NEHU doesn’t offer admission to any course in distance learning mode at present.

UG and PG programs are offered by NEHU for the 2024 distance some of the famous courses are mentioned in the list with their eligibility requirements that have to be completed by students for admission.

1. MSc: After completing a BSC-level degree from any known university in India, they can apply for entry.
2. M.Com: Candidates can apply for entries to this course after completion of B.Com level of studies from any known university in India.
3. MA: Master of Arts is a 2-year duration course at the postgraduate level. A student who has a bachelor’s degree can apply for the course.
4. MBA: The duration of Master of Business Administration is 2 years. Students who have completed their Bachelor’s/BBA or equivalent degree are eligible for the course.

NEHU Distance Education Admission Process 2024

North Eastern Hill University offers various programs such as UG, PG, PG Diploma, and PhD. Students can enroll in multiple courses provided by NEHU which are Bachelor of Law (BA LLB), BTech, MA Linguistics, MA Anthropology, MSc Environmental Science, MTech Biomedical Engineering, PG Diploma in Painting, PhD in Adult & Continuing Education, and more. Basic eligibility for UG programs requires students to have passed 10+2 exams whereas for PG programs, a UG degree in a related field. 

UG Admission Process

• Eligibility: Students are required to have completed 10+2 education with an aggregate of 45% mark from a recognized board. 
• Application: Interested candidates are advised to fill out a registration form and upload all necessary documents on the official page of the NEHU Distance Education Portal.
• Selection: Students are selected based on merit scores obtained in the previous examination.

PG Admission Process

• Eligibility: Students need to have a graduate degree in the same or a related field with a minimum mark of 50% mark from an affiliated university. 
• Application: Applicants need to submit the registration form and upload need full documents at the official site of the university www.nehu.ac.in 
• Selection: For PG programs, a merit list is prepared by the university based on the candidate’s merit grades and academic record. After this, online counseling is provided to selected students. 
• Document Verification: Finally, the process includes verification of documents and fee payment to secure a seat in the concerned program. 

Reservation Policy 

• 70 seats shall be reserved for students of SC, 30 seats for OBC, and in both categories of SC and OBC, 30% of seats will be reserved for female students. 

Scholarships

• NEHU provides scholarships and fellowships to meritorious students from lower backgrounds such as PG Merit Scholarship, Junior Research Fellowship, Scholarship for the differently abled students, and PWD Scholarships.

NEHU Distance Education PG Eligibility Criteria

• MA, MSc, MJMC, MBA, MTTM, MLISc, and PGPD-SEDE courses require a minimum of 55%. For ST/SC students, that number is only 45%, but they still need to pass. 
• The M.Ed. program requires a B.Ed. with at least 55%. Applicants from the SC/ST groups can get a 5% discount. 
• Applicants must have at least 55% (50%) in LLB (reserved category). 
• MCA applicants must have a BCA/BSc (CS/IT) or equivalent degree with at least 50% (45% for the SC/ST category). They must also have studied maths at the 10+2/degree level. 
• Applicants for entry into the Central Committee for Admission of Foreign Students include Kashmiri migrants, Indian workers’ children in Gulf countries, and international students if there is space in their program.

NEHU Distance Education Fee

Students at NEHU have the opportunity to take a variety of UG and PG courses with very affordable fees. In contrast with regular mode courses, distance mode courses have a lower fee structure compared to regular mode courses. It is generally accepted that the fee range for these courses is in the range of Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 80,000 per annum. Selection Criteria

• Admission to BA/ BSc/ B.Ed. The merit of the students can qualify examination after a clear examination, they can apply for admission to the BA/ BSc/ B.Ed. program.
• Admission to BA LLB is made through the department’s written test. The University will prepare a merit list based on the performance and other criteria of applicants.
• If there is an admission test, it will be for class 12 (10 +2 systems) or the equivalent. The trial of the university will be of 2-hour duration when we talk about exams there are multiple-choice questions and shall cover broadly four areas:

  • Legal Aptitude.

Application Form

NEHU Distance Education is not taking new students for this session. For the July 2024 term, NEHU is accepting applications for regular courses. To apply for undergraduate and postgraduate programs, go to the NEHU DDE website and use the admission portal. The fee is INR 800 for general category students. If you are from a Scheduled Tribe (ST) or Scheduled Caste (SC), you only need to pay INR 400. You can pay using debit cards, credit cards, or net banking through HDFC Bank or SBI.

North-Eastern Hill University does not offer any courses in distance mode. University Grants Commission does not approve this university for distance education. Students can pursue only regular courses.
